In the play, Oedipus is well respected and well- inhabitn prince from the city of Corinth. It begins in the middle of the play and then builds up to Oedipus dramatic life. Oedipus was tissue in the city ofCorinth. One day he went to Teiresias, who is a blind prophet, who tells him a prophesy that he would kill his allow and marry his mother, notwithstanding so that it would never happen he runs away from Corinth and to the neargonst city Thebes. On his journey there, he bumped in to some highway travelers, got into a argument , and killed them, but doesnt know that the the people he has killed on the road is the baron of Thebes and his existing father. When Oedipus arrived in Thebes and saved the city from the curse of the sphinx , he was do king and married the business leader, Jocasta. Creon practises back with the oracles discussion: the sickness that is now gone from the city and that the get finished of Laius must be discovered and punished. As a out issue of that, Oedipus curses that murder and says he will find and punish him. He contain the towns people to tell him any information of the murder. After, Oedipus remove for Teiresias help but refuses so he accuses him of help with the transfer of Jocasta, but the only reason he refuses is because he wants to felled origin the truth.

An old messager arrives at Thebes to tell Oedipus that his father in Corinth has died from old age. So he thinks that the prophesy had not come true, but still worried that his mot her is alive.
